Construction Progress
बांग्लादेश में रूपपुर परमाणु विद्युत संयंत्र का निर्माण क्रिया सक्रिय ढंग से चल रहा है। 2017 में, सनकोरपी, भारतीय कंपनी “स्टेट-नो” (“State Nuclear Electric Power Planning Design and Construction Company”) को प्रमुख प्रधानमंत्री Narendra Modi के आदेश पर महत्वपूर्ण हस्तक्षेप होने का मौका प्राप्त हुआ, 2×1200 MW (gross) VVER reactor-based nuclear power plant with two units in Rooppur.
2020 में, पहले unit के construction “First Concrete Pouring” ceremony during which the first concrete was poured for the foundation of the reactor building held on November 30. The construction work is being carried out by a consortium led by Rosatom-TVEL under an EPC contract awarded by Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission (BAEC).
The progress of the construction work has been steady and significant milestones have been achieved. As of now, major structures like turbine buildings, auxiliary buildings and service buildings are nearing completion. The installation of critical equipment such as turbines and generators is also underway. Several safety systems including emergency diesel generators have been installed to ensure uninterrupted power supply.

4-tier containment structure is one of the most significant safety measures that will be implemented at the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant. It consists of an inner containment vessel made of a thick concrete wall, followed by a secondary steel liner, then another layer of reinforced concrete, and finally an outer shell for additional protection.
The primary function of this multi-layered structure is to prevent any release or leakage of radioactive materials in the event of an accident or malfunction.
